On Arbor Day, the WashU Arboretum is delighted to share Annie Tian’s winning design for the 2025 Tree of the Year Sticker Design Competition featuring the Bur Oak.
Tian is a sophomore studying Communication Design and Neuroscience. When asked about her illustration, she said, “If fairies wore acorn caps, a Bur Oak cupule would definitely be a lavish statement piece. I hope this design can remind everyone to appreciate the beautiful intricacies within nature.” Tian’s submission stood out to the Arboretum team with its elegant and botanically accurate details.
The Bur Oak sticker will be available at WashU Arboretum events throughout the year.
Congratulations to Annie!
